Reversing Pre-Diabetes & Strategic Weight Loss

Before

After

Parth, a 32-year-old professional with a standard 8-to-5 desk job, described himself as a typical Gujarati foodie. His lifestyle was characterized by a deep love for traditional cuisine and a don’t think before eating approach. Combined with a self-admitted sedentary routine and a lack of previous weight-loss attempts, Parth faced significant metabolic challenges.

The Starting Point (May 2025):

  • Weight & BMI: 115 kg with a BMI of 43.3 $kg/m^2$ (Class III Obesity).
  • Activity Level: Very lazy; minimal physical movement.
  • Dietary Habits: Large portions (1.5 medium bowls per meal) and frequent consumption
    of high-calorie snacks.

Parth’s initial blood reports revealed several red flags that required immediate intervention:
1. Pre-Diabetes: His HbA1c was 5.8%, placing him firmly in the pre-diabetic range
(5.7%–6.4%).

We designed a sustainable Healthy Eating blueprint that didn’t require Parth to abandon his love for Gujarati flavors, but rather to restructure how he enjoyed them.

  • Portion Control: Shifted from 1.5 bowls to calculated portions focused on high-fiber and high-protein content.
  • Diabetes & Cholesterol Guidelines: Implemented a low-glycemic index (GI) diet to reduce insulin spikes and improved healthy fat intake to boost HDL levels.
  • Exercise Integration: Gradual introduction of activity to break the 8-to-5 sedentary cycle.
  • Micronutrient Therapy: Prescribed Vitamin D and B12 supplementation to improve energy levels and metabolic function.

In just four months of consistent effort, Parth achieved a remarkable health transformation. His weight reduced from 115 kg to 99 kg, marking a significant 16 kg loss. At the same time, his HbA1c levels improved from 5.8% (pre-diabetic range) to 5.6% (normal range), effectively reversing his pre-diabetic status.

This progress demonstrates that sustainable health improvements are possible without giving up cultural identity or favorite foods. By applying clinical guidelines to a balanced “foodie” lifestyle and addressing underlying vitamin deficiencies, Parth successfully moved from a high-risk Obesity Class III category toward a healthier, more active future.
